4. Confidentiality and lawyer-client privilege

Once we are retained, communications about your matter are protected by lawyer-client privilege. We take reasonable steps to keep client information confidential and secure, including through encrypted email where appropriate, secure document storage, and access controls limited to those who need the information to do their work.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose personal information: to service providers who help us operate the firm (for example, cloud practice-management platforms, accounting software, IT support) under confidentiality obligations; to comply with a court order, subpoena, or other legal requirement; to the Law Society of Ontario in the course of a regulatory investigation; or with your consent.

6. Retention

We keep client files and related records for at least the period required by the Law Society of Ontario (currently a minimum of 10 years after the file is closed for most matters), and longer where prudent. After the retention period expires, files are securely destroyed.
