How to raise a concern about our services, and how to contact the Law Society of Ontario.

Civitas Law Professional Corporation takes client concerns seriously. If you are not satisfied with a service we have provided, we would like to know about it so we can address the issue and improve.
Most concerns can be resolved with a direct conversation. Please raise the issue with the lawyer working on your matter, either by phone or in writing.
If the issue is not resolved, or you prefer to raise it in writing, email info@civitaslaw.ca or send a letter to:

Please include your name, contact information, file reference (if any), and a description of your concern. We will acknowledge your complaint within five business days and provide a substantive response within thirty days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Law Society of Ontario. The Law Society regulates lawyers and paralegals in Ontario and investigates complaints about their conduct.

If your concern is about the amount of an account, you may also be able to have it assessed by the Superior Court of Justice. The Law Society can explain the assessment process.
The Law Society administers a Compensation Fund that may reimburse clients in limited circumstances where a lawyer has dishonestly misappropriated client money. Details are on the Law Society's website.
